Jaliana’s Treasures is inspired by my niece Jaliana Erin Wormley-Ford, who suddenly passed on September 27, 2020 from Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 7. Jaliana was fun, vibrant, outgoing, sassy, and just a joy to be around! Although sudden and still difficult to believe at times, I rest knowing that she is watching over me as my beautiful butterfly. A butterfly starts as a caterpillar that grows rapidly, undergoes transformation between immature and mature stages, shreds its skin, spreads its wings then flies; symbolic for the stages of Life. While her life here on earth was short, she impacted me and others in a way that has transformed our life for the better and has caused us to soar after our dreams.
Our organization, Jaliana's Treasures, was established in 2022 as a nonprofit social enterprise. We are operating under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501 (c)(3). Jaliana's Treasures derive from turning our pain into passion. We are based in Severn, Maryland.
Our target audience are parents, healthcare professionals, schools, educators, individuals with Type 1 diabetes and the generate public to reduce stigma and improve understanding and provide resources.
